Two New Programs Announced!!

February 14, 2014 By Tap Legacy

2014-02-14 New Program Announcment

In celebration of Gregory Hines’ Birthday, and the founding of the Tap Legacy Foundation (both February 14th), the foundation is happy to announce two brand new programs. The Tap Legacy Ambassadors Program and the Gregory Hines Story Archive showcase a new focus for Tap Legacy programming. Together these new programs will connect and engage the foundation more fully with the people it serves while continuing to promote the oral tradition and history of tap dance.

About the Tap Legacy Ambassadors Program

The Tap Legacy Foundation has always recognized the importance of people, especially within the context of an oral history. However, it is also people that support the spread of ideas and the continuation of an oral tradition. The Tap Legacy Ambassadors Program provides an opportunity for tap dance enthusiasts all over the world to become an integral part in the promotion and celebration of the history of tap dance. Ambassadors will also play a key role in laying the foundation for the building of the Tap Legacy Center by spreading the ideas upon which the center will stand. Built on these four tenets: Join the Family; Spread the Word; Promote the Legacy; Advance the Art. The Ambassadors Program will ensure that those keen on promoting the legacy of tap dance are provided with the resources they need to do so.

About the Gregory Hines Story Archive

Gregory Hines’ contribution to the field of tap dance are innumerable. While Hines’ artistry is well recognized, his impact on people has had less of a public platform while being equally as important. The Gregory Hines Story Archive provides a public platform through which individuals may submit stories of personal encounters with Hines. The collection of stories will serve as a  reflection of Hines’ unique character and broad impact on those he crossed paths with. Stories submitted will be included in the Tap Legacy Digital Archive, while a curated selection of stories will be posted on GregoryHines.org on an ongoing basis.
