The Method Book

About the Author

Andrew Nemr is a tap dancer and the co-founder of the Tap Legacy™ Foundation. An internationally recognized performer, choreographer, and teacher, Andrew's experience at the feet of masters, on global stages, and in classrooms across the educational landscape has shaped his approach to tap dance as a vehicle for individual and communal formation.

10 Years in the Making

Work on The Tap Dance Method began after years of nudging, informed by a multitude of mentors, lived experience sharing Tap Dance across the globe, and an approach rooted in oral tradition. Over the course of writing the book Andrew discovered the challenge of attempting to describe the journey of a Tap Dancer in words. From the first writing retreat to the final launch, The Tap Dance Method had its own journey to become what it is – an interactive document designed to be a companion for tap dancers exploring the craft.

You will find personal stories that provide context for the ideas presented within these pages. The Frameworks you will find provide ways of thinking that tap dancers can apply immediately to their practice, while exercises provide step-by-step examples of ways to develop particular skills. Especially for educators, a concise list of skill sets and sample curriculum provide reference for focusing the classroom around the journey, even while aiming for the outcome.

The Method is small enough to fit in your bag (literally), but deep enough to keep you engaged.
Tap Legacy™ Foundation is part of the Nemr Institute, a 501(c)3 Not-for-Profit.
