The Will Mastin Trio performers were Will Mastin, Sammy Davis Sr. and Sammy Davis Jr. They performed from the 1920s through the 1960s.
The act started in Vaudeville by Will Mastin and Sammy Davis, Sr. whom he worked for. Sammy Davis, Jr., as a child, often accompanied his father on tour and Mastin was like an uncle to him. Soon enough, Sammy Jr. joined the act and they became the Will Mastin Trio.
When Sammy Jr. answered his draft call in 1943 WWII, The trio stopped performing. They resumed their touring after the end of WWII.
As Sammy Davis, Jr.’s solo career became amazingly successful, he still joined his father and uncle as the Will Mastin Trio during the 1950s and 1960s, frequently giving them billing on his shows.
This clip is from their credited appearance at the 1947 film Sweet and Low. Enjoy…
