Tap Legacy Launches The Copasetics Tribute Website

November 11, 2013 By Tap Legacy

The Copasetics ORG

In honor of LeRoy Myers birthday the Tap Legacy Foundation has announced the launching of yet another tribute website. The sixth in the ever expanding series, Copasetics.org pays tribute to one of the quintessential tap dance groups of all time. Actually established as a social club, The Copasetics would become a staple in their community and a large part of the tap dance resurgence of the 1970s and ’80s. With members that ranged from Billy Strayhorn to Pete Nugent, and honorary members that included Harold Nicholas of the Nicholas Brothers among others, there is much to be remembered and learned from the vast history of the club.

As with all the tribute websites, it is our hope that this becomes a resource for exploration and a catalyst for further investigation about the art of tap dance and its contributors.

One In A Million Holiday Campaign

November 6, 2010 By Tap Legacy

We’re still at it. And we won’t quite until we break ground.

In 2009 the Tap Legacy Foundation launched the One In A Million Campaign, a capital campaign to fund the building of the Tap Legacy Cultural Center in New York City, as envisioned by our co-founders Gregory Hines and Andrew J. Nemr. The campaign continues and is a great gift for the tap dance lover in your life.

Do you know someone who cares about tap dancing? How about someone who has enjoyed a tap dance show recently or remembers those years when tap dance was a part of the popular culture of America?

Become One In a Million in their honor, and give them the gift of a uniquely numbered memento to commemorate their involvement in this historic campaign. Their name will be listed on the Tap Legacy Million List, presently online, and in the greeting area of the proposed Tap Legacy Center.

A total donation of $95 (includes shipping and handling fees) makes you One In A Million. You can make the donation as a single payment or over time (we keep track of the total for you!). To become One In A Million in time for the winter holidays simply donate $1.50 a day and you will by One In A Million by December!!

We need your support to continue to promote the history of Tap Dance in all its unique splendor and to as broad an audience as possible.
