Fred Astair Frederick Austeritz Started dancing 1912 in a duet with his sister Adele in Vaudeville.
Being under age he had to get off the circuit and come back in 1916.
In 1920 it is said that John William Sublett John Bubbles gave lessons in tap dancing to Fred Astaire who considered Sublett
the finest tap dancer of his generation.
The clip is of the number Bojangles of Harlem from the 1936 movie Swing Time, Astaire was dressed in Blackface and dances in the style of
Sublett while actually paying tribute to Bill Bojangles Robinson.
