To all dancers, dance enthusiasts and tap dancers, Join us in celebrating the Birthday of Fayard Antonio Nicholas today 10/20/1914. A Tap Master and National Treasure.
Fayard and his younger brother Harold constituted The Nicholas Brothers dance team.
From vaudeville shows and nightclubs, to Broadway… and television, with highlighted career in motion pictures … Their form combined elements of ballet, jazz, and acrobatics with tap producing dazzling virtuosic routines, they referred to it as classical tap.
In their most famous number—the dance to Jumpin’ Jive in the movie Stormy Weather – 1943. A Must See for all Dance and Tap Dance enthusiasts. Fayard and Harold descended a staircase by alternately jumping over each other’s head in full splits and landing, still in splits.
