A Performer since she was nine in USO shows, an Educator, Choreographer and a protege of Tap Master Leslie Bubba Gaines of the Copasetics. Bettye performed on Broadway, Radio City Music Hall, movies and clubs & worked with choreographers Hanya Holm, Robert Alton and Gene Kelly, she danced with Sammy Davis Jr. & performed at the Barbican, England’s Lincoln Center, in London.
Bettye was the first tap dancer since 1938 to be featured at Mana Leone’s in Broadway Nights, an honor previously held by Bubba Gaines. Still active on the tap education scene, Bettye, who resides in New York City is still handing down the trade of tap through her weekly classes.
