Watch and listen to “Baby” Laurence tap dance at the Hollywood Palace in 1967 with Sammy Davis Jr. as a host, “Baby” started performing at age 12 with McKinney’s Cotton Pickers as a Soprano singer. Later in NYC frequenting the Hoofers Club he became Teddy Hales main rival. Bunny Briggs once said “I saw a fellow dance and his feet never touched the floor”, Yes So true..

Lloyd Storey – HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Tap Legacy™ Daily Post – To All dancers, dance enthusiasts and tap dancers, join us today in celebrating the Birthday July 24, 1923 of Lloyd Storey, a Tap Master and National Treasure. Lloyd grew up in New York after the family moved from Detroit, Michigan. At the young age of 14 years old, he began dancing at New York’s famed Apollo Theater, eventually touring with Bill “Bojangles” Robinson.
After the end of WWII where he served in the Navy, he returned to the stage performing with all the greats of the time, the likes of Louis Armstrong, Cab Calloway, Duke Ellington, Redd Foxx, Peg Leg Bates, Count Basie.
When Storey moved to Detroit, he formed the “Detroit Sultans” tap ensemble with Fletcher “T Bone” Hollingsworth and Frank Colvard, he also directed the city’s Tap Repertory Ensemble, as well as teaching at the Center for Creative Studies.

Steve & Nick Condos, Rhythmically, a class by themselves, better known as “The Condos Brothers” they were the favorite and most sought after dance team in Hollywood for films in the 1930’s – 1940’s. such films were ** Wake Up and Live (1937) ** Happy Landing (1938) ** In the Navy (1941) ** Pin-Up Girl (1944 ** The Time the Place and the Girl (1946) ** Shes Back on Broadway (1953).
As in Hollywood and across the USA, they were also a sensation overseas, they held the longest record at London’s famous Palladium, playing for an entire year.

“Ziegfeld Follies” 1945 an MGM musical comedy film starring Fred Astaire, Lucille Ball, Judy Garland, Gene Kelly & others, also featured Fanny Brice, from the original Ziegfeld Follies. Producer Arthur Freed wanted a film along the lines of Ziegfeld Follies Broadway, the film is a sequence of unrelated lavish musical numbers and comedy sketches, released in 1946 to box-office success.
